Mosquito Hats

While mosquito candles, sprays, and other methods of control may be suitable to many suburban mosquito problems, there are a variety of occupations and situations in which these standard methods are ineffective. Gardening, camping, and soldiering are three activities that require a more direct deflection of mosquito problems.

Mosquito hats are a standard deterrent of mosquito problems in a variety of situations. A mosquito hat is a hat with a mosquito net sewn into the brim. This net hangs down to the collar area and is cinched with a drawstring in order to prevent any mosquitoes from biting the wearer on the face or neck.

A mosquito net hat is effective in situations where other forms of deterrence cannot be used or where mosquito problems are particularly fierce. A mosquito net hat is very effective for gardening. Gardeners often have to cover a large plot of land that cannot be protected from mosquitoes by large-area deterrents such as mosquito torches and candles. A gardeners mosquito hat will prevent the person doing the gardening from being bitten while performing their work. Camping also presents a different mosquito situation than is typically seen on the back patio of a suburban house. Being in the deep woods, campers face a tremendous amount of mosquitoes in all areas of their habitat. This can be a big problem when the mosquitoes may carry such diseases as malaria and West Nile Virus. Camp mosquito hats operate in much the same fashion as gardener mosquito hats. The goal is to use the hat along with other forms of protection to completely prevent mosquito penetration.

The military also makes great use of mosquito hats. Far beyond even the mosquito presence in the deep forest, soldiers must operate in all types of environments all over the world. Soldiers must navigate deep jungles, swamps, and wetlands. Military mosquito hats operate on much the same principles as gardening and camping mosquito hats, but military mosquito hats have obvious differences. They may take the form of being part of a combat helmet, camouflage, or other variant that will allow the hat to function in combat situations.

When combined with other forms of protection, mosquito hats serve as a strong defense against mosquitoes that may carry harmful diseases. Some situations require more protection than a mosquito candle, and mosquito hats are part of a defense system for those situations. Able to be used in a variety of situations from gardening to soldiering, mosquito hats are a powerful protection against mosquitoes.
